... which has me pairing violets with peaches and periwinkles with caramels as I did when I put together the patchwork featured in this post (of which you may also remember seeing the beginnings of back in May...), has a way of putting a very big smile on my face... Apart from this colourful foursome, as you can see below...

... I didn't stop there, adding more colours such as indigos. taupes, oranges, turquoises, greys and yellows to the happy mix, resulting in this mishmash of a patchwork...
I'm often inspired to make a patchwork when I'm itching to use pieces of fabric together which I fancy at that moment (usually vintage and/or thrifted yardage). In the case of this patchwork, the bold vintage prints with splashes of violets and oranges kept catching my eye (how could they not?!...), so I thought it would be fun to combine them with some more muted granny ditsies with the thought that they would soften the eye-catching brights and create a more charming look... What do you think?!... When zooming in on small parts of the patchwork, such as on all these different small grouping of squares...

... the colours which are in close quarters to each other may seem a bit discordant, but as you zoom out a bit,...
... and then a bit more,...
... and more,...
... and more, I think a more harmonious look emerges where similar pops of colour repeat themselves throughout the patchwork... I have already sewn up the quilt from this patchwork which you can see on Instagram here, and which I will feature in my next post... As I mentioned back in May, I will be stocking my Etsy shop with bundles of squares needed to make this patchwork; I meant to do so back in June, but concerns about USPS delays has stopped me from fully opening my Etsy shop... (I would certainly welcome any advice about the state of your postal service from those of you living in the U.S as I honestly don't know what to do as it pertains to my Etsy shop!...)
