...is beckoning me right now as I sit looking at photos of it on my monitor, on a drab December day in the city...
Leading up to summer this year, I did a fair bit of purging and revamping at our house at the lake; I got rid of a lot of clutter and broken down old furniture that I thought I would fix up some day but realized that I would probably need another lifetime to do so. I also made some new soft furnishings and had my dearest husband use his wonderful woodworking talents to make some new furniture, like the lovely coffee table below...
...which I think fits rather nicely with the two simple day beds on caster wheels made with reclaimed wood which we put together three summers ago...
...and which are well used and loved, creating the best of cozy nooks, perfect for reading, napping, crocheting, hanging out or just soaking in the views of mountain...
...and lake through the trees...
This nook wouldn't be cozy if it weren't for all the cushions and, while there were a lot of cushions on the daybeds to begin with, I decided to make new covers for them which I thought would better harmonize with our lovely natural surroundings, as well as the palette of the art on our walls, such as my favourite piece hung in the nook and painted by a local artist of a nearby landscape...
So, digging into my velvety and corduroy fabric reserves, as well as into my vintage fabric stash, resulted in this bunch of cushions...
A cozy nook also needs blankets to be truly cozy and I realized that all the ones I had no longer worked very well with the new look of my nook, so off I went to the local yarn shop...
...where I found some very lovely soft and chunky wool,...
...which I played around with for a while, trying different stitches in an attempt to make the simple textured crochet blanket I envisioned for my nook...
I finally settled on a very simple two-stitch design and, after a bunch of happy hours with my hook in my nook, a blankie was made!...
Oh yes, I also decided to update more of the decor by making a few lamps with old bottles like the green bottle below; it turned out to be a rather quick and rewarding little DIY project...
I thought I would share more of my cozy nook with you by writing up a little pattern for my two-stitch blankie for you to try out and maybe bring more "cozy" into a nook of your own... I am just putting the finishing touches to it and should have it posted at some point next week... I hope you've enjoyed visiting my little lake nook and, as always, thank you so very much for popping by!...
So cozy! Love the soothing colors. What stitch pattern did you use for the blanket? Please share the details! I'd love to make one.
