...I came back after an amazing family holiday in Morocco feeling wonderfully refreshed and inspired with the biggest of cravings: surround myself with a bunch of yummy fabric and yarn and just craft... Those of you who have been to Morocco will probably not find that very surprising given its rich tradition of arts and crafts which is self-evident all over the country, whether it be in medina souks (markets) or in Berber mountain villages; if you are of a crafty persuasion, I think it would be almost odd not to be inspired by so many exquisite examples of talented craftsmanship which can be seen all over the place... Oh, and for textile nuts like me, spotting so much displayed colourful handwoven and embroidered eye candy, whether it be in the form of rugs, shawls, cushions, etc., was sheer bliss; I just wish I had had more time to delve into that side of Moroccan traditional know-how...
As soon as I got back to Vancouver with my head full of new design possibilities, I was so tempted to run straight into my basement workroom and start playing around with all my fabric and yarn; however, I quashed this first impulse of mine, and instead turned my attention to a big pile of sewn up pillowcases that still needed to be paired up with suitably coloured linen yarn for their crocheted trims... I have to say that I was unusually disciplined in this instance, but I thought it best to clean my slate a bit before jumping into something brand new given the number of unfinished projects I do have lying about right now! And, well, it's not as if I don't enjoy trimming pillowcases...
After a good week of such pillowcase work, I had put together a good twenty new crochet-trimmed pillowcases which I've started photographing along with my new cushions (like the ones in my last post) to share with you as well to use in my Etsy listings; photo-taking was going rather slowly though because we've been having such dark and rainy weather lately, not my favourite conditions for taking pictures... However, the sun did finally make its appearance one afternoon this week and I went into overdrive photographing stacks of pillowcases and cushions (like the ones featured in this post), having so much fun playing around with all sorts of different combinations on the bed in our guestroom ...
If you're interested, I have started listing some new pillowcases and cushions in my Etsy shop and will be continuing to do so in the next little while... Once I have a fair bunch of new listings up and running hopefully by the end of next week, I will be heading into my workroom and letting loose on some of my Moroccan-inspired ideas which should be lots of fun! I will also sort through my Morocco photos shortly and share some of them in an upcoming post... I'm so very happy to be back here with you in my little blog space and thank you so very much for all your lovely comments and visits!...
