...every year, when I pack up my things to bring to the lake for the two summer months I spend there, I am rather ambitious as I always bring so much stuff to work on; I end up bringing a bunch of new project material that I'd like to start on as well as a good many works-in-progress that I hope to finish... Now, given that I'm at the lake, it's summertime, and I also have a garden I love tending to, it seems like I probably end up doing 1% of all these things that I thought I might work on when I was packing up at the beginning of summer! And this summer, one of the very few things that I ended up doing as part of this 1% is making a coverlet out of this patchwork top which I thought I would show you in this post, even though it is far from being very autumnal in appearance!...
All these very summery photos were taken in one of the second floor bedrooms at our cottage at the lake near the end of summer; we brought one my daughters' lovely refinished vintage single bed frame from the city (she wanted a double bed, handier for sleepovers...) and set it up in this room which has such a great view of our bay and the mountains which border it.
As far as the coverlet goes, I did my usual: I sandwiched some cotton batting between the patchwork top and a cotton corduroy backing in a lovely neutral light beige colour, and then tied the lot with some 4 ply cotton yarn...
...which you can see closer up in this photo,...

...and finally here...
The painting hanging above the bed which you can see closer up below is a new summer acquisition of mine; every summer, we pop over by ferry to the nearby town of Powell River where there is an art gallery run by local artists which I like to visit and where, happily, I found this endearing sheepy piece. While it may seem a bit out of focus in the photo, it actually isn't as it is painting in a slightly blurry soft and dreamy way, very fitting I think for its nostalgic pastoral theme, don't you think?...
You might remember that I have listed a bunch of the bundles like the ones below with all the squares needed to make the top featured in this post in my Etsy shop a while back; I think I will restock my shop with a few more of these in the next while as I still have enough of the fabric to make more of these bundles. (If you should be interested in purchasing one of these before they are available in my shop again, just send me a line...)
Well, I do hope you've enjoyed this browse of my rather unseasonal little post!... Have a lovely weekend and thanks so much for visiting!...
