...after a lovely bit of travelling which started in London where I met my husband, who was there with a couple of old chums from high school catching some of the Rugby World Cup excitement, and then continued on to Germany where we biked down the beautiful Moselle River for two days starting in the historic town of Trier; it was a feast for the eyes as the river winds its way in huge loops with picture book villages (where I took the photo above) and beautiful vineyards strung out along its banks. Our midpoint was the charming town of Bernkastel-Kues with its picturesque facades...
...where we stayed in a very comfy and friendly family-run gasthaus, the perfect spot to rest our achy bodies due to biking all day against a bit of a relentless and annoying northern wind! The next day, we made our way to our endpoint, the town of Cochem, which you can see here...
...and here...
...and in the last photo of this post... Need I say more?! While we did cover a fair amount of ground in two days which we had to do due to time constraints (it would have been nicer to make more stops at the wineries and towns along the way), the biking, apart from the fact that we had to bike against the wind the first day, was rather mellow because the grade is pretty constant (no hills to bike up like we have here in Vancouver!). We came back to Trier from Cochem by train (under an hour travelling time which took us two days by bike!) and then we made a quick stop in Germany's oldest and very enchanting university town of Heidelberg,...
...and then headed due north to Hamburg, where we caught a train to the beautiful city of Copenhagen...
We had two days here before catching a plane back to Vancouver, enough time to stroll through most of its centrum, enjoying many picturesque cobbled streetscapes, great museums such as the Designmuseum Danmark, (the Danish Museum of Art and Design) and of course very delicious pastry!
Short getaway, but very sweet, and now I'm ready to pull out fabric and yarn and do a bit of my own designing! I've already added to my cushion collection as you can see above, but I'm still a bit out of step because of a 9-hour time zone change; I should be back to normal by next week, at which point I will reopen my Etsy shop with some new pillowcases. Thanks for visiting and have a great rest of the week!
Looks like you've had a beautiful trip. I've been to Trier too. A lovely place. Love the fabric with the houses of your pillow. It is a fun cushion!

A beautiful looking holiday... we, too, went to Hamburg and Copenhagen this summer - a lovely holiday. I love the cottage cushion... somehow nicely autumnal!
