...can you believe it -- it's already June!... I don't know what it's like in your home, but June around here tends to be a busy month as our children's school year along with all their extracurricular activities wind down for the summer break. Since I've started spending most of July and August away from the city at our lake cottage, I also feel like I have a full plate of my own in June, trying to get as much done as possible before going away for the summer; I've been feeling this just a bit more keenly this year because it seems to me like I haven't accomplished a whole lot lately due to my recent aches and pains. However, in the last little while, I think all the physio I've been doing is starting to take effect since my hip and leg pains are not nearly as debilitating as they were just a few weeks ago (Yay!); not only have the aches lessened but, most importantly, I feel energized mentally because I'm starting to believe in a full recovery, something I wasn't so sure about just a mere three weeks ago. And, I don't know if it's the same for you, but being in better spirits in my case means that my creative juices are flowing again and I'm itching to make, make, make!...
One of the first things I'd like to make is a batch of crochet-trimmed pillowcases using more fabric from my very yummy stash of Bloomsbury prints made by Liberty of London and some equally delectable linen yarn. I have to admit that I'm really excited by the matching of this particular fabric with this type of yarn because I simply love working with such fine and beautiful materials!
As you can see, this time around, I will be dipping into the loveliest of shades of blues, aquas, mints and greens, all combined beautifully in these Liberty prints. I haven't jumped so unabashedly into this family of colours for quite a while now, but given the numerous requests for pillowcases in these colours I've been getting from some of you and the sheer prettiness of this blend of colours, I do think it's about time I did!
Because I'm so delighted by the look of linen yarn adorning pillowcases made with Liberty cottons, I'm thinking that pillowcases made from other (non-Liberty) cottons might just look rather sweet when also trimmed with linen yarn...
I've recently acquired the bolt of pretty fabric you see on top of the Liberty cottons (how could I resist such floral loveliness?!), and I think I might just make some pillowcases with it and try trimming them with one of my also recently purchased skeins of linen yarn, all in pretty pastel shades (Yum!)...
So, do stay tuned, because as soon as I'm done playing around with all this pretty fabric and my lovely new skeins of linen yarn and have some pillowcases all done up (and I do think it will be soon because I'm itching to start!), I will be posting all about them right here... I do hope you're looking forward to a June filled with some yummy homespun craftiness just like I am and I do thank you so much for stopping by!...
Good to hear you are feeling better, the summer hols will be here soon too so everything changes for six weeks or so. Those fabrics are gorgeous, blue is my favourite colour, I'm looking forward to seeing them turn into pillowcases.
