...to share with you as promised... Mint and aqua partnered with red is a favourite colour combo of mine, so as soon as I saw the woolly variegated reddish yarn, I knew I had to grab a couple of balls of it to make a cushion top because I knew exactly what colour of flowers I would plant on it!
On the other hand, I wasn't so sure about the purplish variegated yarn in the foreground of the photo below; I did however buy some and, after a fair amount of different posy trials, came up with the one you see. I have to confess that the finished cushion is not my favourite of the batch because I find the purplish yarn in low light reminds me too much of the muddy colour water in a brush rinsing jar becomes after using all the colours in a watercolour set; I also find that it's borderline garish with all its clashing colours in brighter light. I did stick with it though because there was something I liked about the way the yarn looked against my patchwork and, well, trying to match backing fabric for the cushion and yarn for the posy to it made for an interesting challenge! The one thing I really do like about this cushion however is the way the posy leaves turned out; while they are bigger than the leaves on the other cushions due to a chunkier yarn, there is more colour depth to them as the green yarn I chose is variegated with lovely flecks in it.
The last posy I have to show you is the one I crocheted for the dark teal cushion... Now, just to back up a bit, I have to tell you how much I like the yarn I used for this cushion (which is also the same type of yarn I used for the brown cushion); as you might have guessed by looking at the photos, this yarn has angora in it which gives the crocheted cushion its soft downy halo, just perfect to rest a flower posy on, don't you think?!...
As hard as it was to find a fitting trio of colours for the flowers in the posy of the purplish cushion, in the case of the teal cushion flowers it was child's play! In fact, I could have settled on so many different colour options, but decided on the ones you see as I thought they worked nicely with my patchwork.
I hope you enjoyed this little posy post... I'm off on a little spring break holiday with my family but I should be back with a post next week, perhaps with a few holiday shots to share with you. Thanks for popping by and I leave you with a little sneak peek of something new I've been working on...
So lovely they all are!! xo Heather

They're so lovely - think hairclips with this sort of posy on might be my Easter craft this year
