...well, yes, I'm still under the influence of the California sun, expecting summer any minute here in Vancouver!... I've also been playing around with some very summery fabric mostly from these two patchworks which you may remember, sherbert dreams... and buttercup dreams.... I've been wondering whether I should continue selling them in my Etsy shop as bundles, but given that I've ran out of several of the prints in both patchworks, I came up with another option: combining a lot of the prints from both of them and adding a few new prints to the mix to come up with a totally new patchwork... And that's exactly what I did:
Here's a better look at the new patchwork top, which I've named buttercups and sherbert...:
As you can see, the red and peachy-orange accents from the original patchworks are toned down to make room for the aquas, mints and greens which take center stage with the yellows and pinks...
Just like the original patchworks, this one is a blend of old and new fabric (cotton and cotton blends); straight-off-the-bolt designer prints from the likes of Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Tanya Whelan are mixed in with some sweet ditsy florals and, most fun of all, a yummy assortment of vintage fabric which I've been stashing away for that perfect project...
Similarly to the other two patchworks, there are no square repeats, which I think gives the top that granny scrap patchwork look which I simply love!...
This patchwork is also made up of 63 fabric squares, 8.5"x8.5", which sews up into a 56"x72" top like the other two original tops.
If you are at all interested in making a buttercups and sherbert... patchwork which should bring a bit of sunshine into your home, I have listed a few of them in my Etsy shop. In the next little while, I will be making a tied coverlet out of this new patchwork which I will show you as soon as it's done; I also hope to accessorize it with some cushions very shortly which I'll also make sure to share with you as well...
Thanks so much for popping by and I do hope this post has made you think yummy thoughts of summertime, which may seem far away right now, but will be with us in no time!...
Beata, it's gorgeous! I shouldn't, but.....
My life is full of challenges right now, so I think, I need to spoil myself just a little bit. Perhaps these wonderful fabrics will bring back the sewing mojo:-)
