...since Christmas and getting over a cold, that's what I've been up to... Perhaps my holidays have been a bit low-key to date, but I'm not really complaining as I've spent my waking hours leafing through my new favourite crafty books, hooking a few pillowcase trims, watching movies at home with warm mugs of yummy salted caramel cocoa and bowls of popcorn, eating lots of Christmas sweets (much too many, I'm sure!), enjoying the company of my kids and husband by the fire and, since yesterday, figuring out what to do with a lovely thrifted loot of vintage heather grey wool which still has its original tags saying that it was made in Canada (Wow!) and distributed by the Bay, Canada's oldest department store (double Wow! -- how many of you remember the days when department stores sold yarn?)...
And how about you?... I hope you have also been enjoying your holidays and, well, since we are on the brink of a new year, I hope you will...
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and heartwarming visits to my little blog throughout all of last year, and I do hope you will keep popping by in the new year because I can't wait to share a whole load of new handspun goodies with you!...
Wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy New year xox thanks for your lovely blog x Penny

Hi,
Certainly do remember wool being sold in department stores and all types of fabrics. Curtain fabric as well as dressmaking.
I used to work in a store called Debenham's and we had a good selection. This was when , if we didn't have an item in stock it would be ordered for you. The store is still going but its moved into the new Westfield centre, here in Derby and is nothing like the old shop. My son is married to a Canadian lady and lives in Saskatoon. He has been in Canada for 5 years and absolutely loves it. Best wishes for the New Year, from Carol Partridge.

Your blog is always such a visual treat of pretty things. It always makes me happy to read your posts.
So unusual to find such a good stash of yarn all the same type (at least at the thrift shops I visit it's usually just odds and ends). Someone must have just never made their planned project. Happy New Year!

WOW what a find! Love the basket too! Wishing you well. Just finished crocheting a cup of cocoa. lol (not near as tasty as yours I'm sure.)Our holiday was very similar to yours (without the cold). Working in miniature crochet at the moment and staying warm, extremely cold with this polar vortex (1.5F) brrr!(In the South, no less!)Wishing you a bright and happy new year. :))

I hope that you're feeling better now, I was ill over christmas too, I thought I was over it but it's just come back to get me, so I now have a weekend of laying low planned... bliss!
Love the snow globe, it's gorgeously simple!
