I have to start this post by telling you how touched I've been by all your most amazing comments to my last post! I'm so excited about sharing more of this dream with you as the work on the house progresses... The next little while will be exciting as the windows and doors have been ordered and should be arriving very soon -- I made a few changes to the original design with respect to the windows, so I am looking forward to seeing them all installed... In fact, I went through a period obssessing about the windows and, as it is now, I can't go by houses without zooming in on the windows -- well, I figure it's not such a bad thing because windows are huge a far as the final look of the house goes... Anyhow, I hope it all ends up looking good (I will show you photos as soon as they're in...)

So April has come and gone and I feel like I don't have much to show you except for this blanket I whipped up for our youngest's (Nico) 9th birthday. When I say I whipped it up, I whipped it up... I did it all on the day of her birthday while she was at school and I have to say that it is not some of my finest sewing work! I've had this wonderful remnant of very bright pinky red plush kicking about and Nico, who likes to make a nest of her bed with all sorts of odds and ends and blankies, has been eyeing it for a while now... So, I decided to make a back for it by sewing strips of this wonderful fabric which looks like it has velvet ribbons on it (I love this fabric but I'll never forget that when I was buying it the women who was cutting it for me at the fabric store couldn't understand why I was buying it because she thought it was dreadful!) with strips of some pink flannel with rose posies. I then embellished the whole with some colorful trim and sewed it all to the piece of plush, which was the point at which I almost chucked the whole thing because nothing (of course) was lining up as I was trying to quickly sew together a fabric with stretch (the plush) to a non-stretchy back!... I got it done somehow, not well, but more importantly, Nico was thrilled with the final product!
I hope you're all having a good start to the month of May and that, wherever you may be, your weather is lovely and seasonal unlike in Poland where I just read that it was snowing and lots of people are without power... and I was complaining about out spring!... Take care...
