...while selling my wares at a farmer's market a while back, a woman came by my stall and absolutely made my day by gushing over all the things I had made (at that time I was selling mostly patchwork quilts, cushions, banners, bags and ruffle skirts). She then commented that my house must be so wonderfully decorated, especially my kid's rooms, with all these things that I make... I laughed right away and told her that my house was hardly decorated and just a huge chaotic mess... basically the classic story of the cobbler whose children run around with holes in their shoes!
A few years have gone by since then, and I have to say that while I have made some progress, I still have so many basic things I haven't done yet, such as put up proper curtains in the bedrooms; in most of them, I've picked the fabric, cut out lengths of it and hung them without sewing them and, every day for many many months now whenever I go into the rooms, I think to myself: I have to sew up these curtains... maybe this weekend?... Alas, so many weekends have gone by and the fabric pieces are still hanging!
Ultimately, I think it all comes down to prioritizing; I have so many things I'd like to get done in a day that most days I feel so very overwhelmed by it all, and every day all the house decorating projects get pushed to the bottom of the list... and, sadly, nothing gets done. So, I've been thinking that, once a month, I should make a point of blocking some time for one of these projects and go for it... otherwise, I'll still have pieces of fabric hanging on the rods long after my kids will have moved out of the house!
About the dolls (I think they're from Portugal)... I spotted these during a recent trip to a thrift shop and was immediately charmed by them because of all the different fabric scraps used in each of their costumes (one of them is actually wearing a woolen plaid skirt!)... and don't you just love those hoop earrings!
