...my basement workspace...Oy! It had reached such an insane level of messiness -- it had gotten to the point where I was walking on a floor foot-deep in fabric, I could no longer find a clearing on my 2 1/2 m long work table so cluttered with stuff, I would regularly scream when looking for thread because the spools were so hopelessly tangled together, and on and on...you can only imagine...or maybe not, because I have so much fabric that most sane people would probably find it hard to imagine until they could actually see for themselves the sheer extent of my obsession! My children are always asking me if we can open a fabric shop in the basement so that they can be cutters and cashiers (one of their favorite pretend games)!
Luckily, Alexandra, my 10-year-old daughter, agreed to help me wade through the mess, pile, sort, organize, etc... We've been at it on and off for the last three weeks, and are finally starting to see a better organized, neater and cozier space take shape. Now, the trick will be to try and keep it that way!
I've also been finishing up a few of things which I can't wait to show you...hopefully early next week. See you then!
The colors are very springish! I love that you said OY. I say it all the time. So funny! Our room is almost ready for the "stuff", we just need some shelving. Then I'll have to figure out what to do with it all. I haven't done any serious crafting since the girls were little. I have lots of ideas rambling around in my head. You do beautiful work, we adore our two Babushkas xo

sigh.
I need to organize my bits/pieces/odds/ends/
I don't think I will have the same luck getting my seven year old son to help sort.....not unless I would like to have several hundred lego's added to the mess in my sewing area:P

Good for you! I helped my friend yesterday move a couple of pieces of furniture around in her sewing room. We sorted and tossed and organized a bit here and there. My brawn her brain... (I'm quite a bit younger than she is...) anyway, funny cause now we have drawn out how to move her bedroom furniture so that her DH won't have a problem getting in and out of bed and past the bookshelf w/out falling. I love to organize, but sometimes it takes motivation to get myself in that state of mind! Good for you having a helper. Enjoy it while you can.

I found this blog (well you are organizing)
http://creativeorganizing.typepad.com
and thought it was a lovely organizing site. Have added it to my favourites. I could do with a root through all your fabrics, and then watch how you put colours together.

I'm totally having the same problem. Did you see that Simplemom.net is doing a spring cleaning week? I'm in the middle of a major overhaul, so her tips for people with normal kinds of mess is not so helpful for me at this point... but it's still good eats for later.
