half-hearted...

...was my effort since my last post in finishing up my babushkas, mostly because I had been feeling under the weather last week due to migraines... In fact, I think I was under the weather because of being under the clouds!... Let me explain: last week, we had foggy weather and an inversion in Vancouver which, as you might know, causes lower-pressure and colder air to get trapped under a layer of clouds and me, along with I'm sure a few other people in this town, to become susceptible to migraines...Ugh! 

Nevertheless, I did eventually manage to finish the babushkas -- they are, as I write, sitting happily and "plumpily" in a basket waiting to have their photos taken, something I hope to do shortly, as soon as the clouds break a little and I have a little more light to take some decent shots. Of late, I've also had this unquenchable itch to try to make something Valentine-like; the pillow above came to mind, and I had so much fun making it, that I think I will have to make more!

'Just a little note: I haven't replied to many of my emails lately, so I have quite a pileup at the moment... I am started to go through them now -- Please be patient with me!

...How pretty are these verses! (Forgive me, I seem to be already in Valentine's Day mode just like all the shop displays!) My little batch of babushkas now all have their pretty posies, and are patiently awaiting little seams around their edges, little ties so they can be hung around the house, and a little stuffing to make them all sweetly plump... I will be back soon with another babushka update...

...with a buzzy head jammed with New Year resolutions and yummy project ideas, and with a new batch of babushkas like the ones I made, it seems, a very long time ago... Thirty-some babushkas are awaiting their flower posies, seams along their edges and stuffing, and off they will go to my, sadly, very neglected Etsy shop. (New Year resolution #245: keep stocking Etsy shop more regularly...) I will post about how the babushkas are shaping up hopefully soon and regularly. (New Year resolution #334: post more often and regularly...)

I hope you all had a great Christmas holiday... I had a lovely one with my family -- nothing over-the-top nor elaborate, just very simple and restful, cozy and cocooning (pajamas all day), and very, very white (Yeah!) for Vancouver standards (we still have a lot of snow on the ground which, alas, is getting all soupy due to the torrential rainfall we've had as of last night...). While I wasn't ready for the holidays to end, now that they have, and the old routine is slowly creeping back, I'm OK with it all -- in fact, after such a restful holiday, I'm feeling refreshed and ready to get going with 2009.' Hoping you're feeling the same zest for the new year as I am, I wish you all a very, very happy 2009!
