...for babushka, stitching along her edges, stuffing to make her plump as she should be, and then, voilà, she'll be all done up -- hopefully, by next week, all 75 (+ or -) versions of her. As soon as I'm done, I'll have babushka photos to share with you. Now, I must run to cut more flowers to make her bouquets all pretty...

...Adorable Little Lulu is what I first saw when I opened a little package I received from Doe, who pens one of my favorite blogs, That Silly Lil' Doe, and who must be one of Cath Kidston's biggest fan on this side of the pond... Not a swap nor a giveaway, the package is simply a Thank You! for being one of my cupcake tote giveaway winners -- Doe, you are a generous soul!  Doe also enclosed a pretty heart pin cushion, which she made with a Cath Kidston bird fabric I've had my eye on for a while (such a long while in fact, that the print seems to be out of stock now!). There was still more in the package: pretty "Simplicity" squares from Moda and a yummy little polka dot thank you card -- Take a look:

As you can see, the gift has a Valentine's Day theme, and I did receive it just before Valentine's Day -- as usual though, I'm slow in posting things... I do have a babushka WIP post coming up in the next few days (guaranteed, because I've already taken photos for it!), so do stay tuned...

sweet slumber...

And why sweet?...perhaps because of this plush and plump underside:

Luxuriant 100% cotton chenille... Yum! Now, wouldn't everyone's sleep be sweeter cozied up to this stuff!

I have made this quilt before in a slightly larger format; however, I couldn't use the same fabric for binding as I did before because I had ran out of it. So, after trying out a bunch of options (I choose binding fabric only once I can see the finished layers quilted together), I settled on a soft thin wale corduroy in a lovely aqua color. I've never bound a quilt before with corduroy, but when I found some in such a perfect color, I tried it against the blanket; I was so pleased with the look of it against the chenille and the patchwork prints, that I decided to go for it.

The top of this blanket is definitely a favorite of mine, because, aside from a few new prints, most of it is made up with vintage cottons and sheeting. Now, because I'm such a fabric geek who gets off on taking closeups of fabric, and then staring at the shots at length, I will indulge myself -- and hopefully you as well -- by posting a little assortment chosen from the zillions of photos I took of this blanket -

O.K., wasn't that fun?!...

Babushka update: I'm still working on my big batch for my Etsy shop, having fun mixing colors and patterns... In the meantime, these babushkas have arrived at their destinations - have a look here, here, here, here, here, here, and here... Thanks for the photos! Merci pour les photos!

...a little quilted blanket that I was asked to make for a sweet little baby girl. Here's a sneak peek:

The floral print in the front is an absolute favorite of mine; I love its coarser, linen-like weave, its Liberty-like pattern, and its lovely range of aquas and greens. Unfortunately, it's a vintage cotton and I barely have any left... To any fabric designers who might be reading this: can you reproduce this print?...I'll buy a gazillion meters of it if you do!

Once I've finished the blankets (I'm making two of them, since I already had enough precut squares), I'm jumping right into babushka production -- can't wait! I'll be back very soon with more photos of the finished blanket...
