'Just a quick post to show you a couple more ruffle skirt fabric combinations...these two definitely tend more towards the brights!
The skirts still need some trims and tags to be ready for twirling -- 'should have some photos to show you by the end of the week...
...my date at the Trout Lake Farmer's Market this Saturday because I simply didn't have time to make enough stock! Between losing over a month to being sick and a very busy first half of May -- out-of-town soccer tournaments, school field trips, etc.. -- I ran out of time to make the items I had hoped to sell this Saturday at the market. I realized late last week that I would probably have to stay up 'till 3:00 am every night this week to put together my usual selection of goods; there was a time when I would have gone for it, but, well,... let's just say that I'm growing wiser...
I hope to pick up another date, most probably in the first half of June; as soon as I get a date, I'll mention it here. To all of you who were planning on coming by to see me on Saturday, sorry for this last-minute change and thank you for your continued amazing support! (Please e-mail me though if there's anything you might be interested in seeing right now.)
In the meantime, I thought I'd show you photos of the fabric combos I've chosen for two of my summery girl's ruffle skirts -- 'Hope to show you the finished skirts very soon...
....une toile, de la gouache, des petits bouts de tissu, de laine et de papier, de la colle et surtout...surtout, beaucoup d'amour... et Hop! voilà...un petit cadeau!
Pardon my French, but I've just had a great day in my daughter's Grade 3 class -- mais si, only speaking French -- with a bunch of budding artists?!...Let me explain: firstly, my children attend French school so they're only supposed to speak French when at school and, secondly, my daughter's teacher kindly asked me if I could come up with a Mother's Day project with "plants" as a theme. So, with botanical prints and collages on my brain, I got the children to paint little stretched canvases and then re-create their plants of choice with bits of fabric, paper, wool and glue...lots of glue!
And again, the children amazed me with all their original and very different ideas and bubbly enthusiasm -- aren't their little masterpieces a pure delight!! I'm betting all their mamans will be thrilled on Sunday when they're presented with these little botanical gifts! And, I hope all of you, Mamans chéries who happen upon this post, will be showered with lots of love on Sunday -- Happy Mother's Day!
