...I am itching to start gardening at our house by the lake, but I certainly won't be doing so in the next few days, because this is what southern coastal British Columbia looks like at the moment:
But don't get me wrong!... I love when it snows around here. While I don't know that a lot of people living in this city feel as I do, for me, a snowfall in Vancouver is as sweet as a wintry treat can be! I guess I'll always be a Montrealer at heart, where winter doesn't seem quite right without a snowscape like this one...
So while gardening outdoors might not be for the immediate future, I have found a way of sowing a garden while sitting by my window, watching the snow fall: I have been going through my woolly yarn reserves and found so many yummy skeins and balls, that I could'nt resist pulling out my crochet hooks and making a few flowers... Of course, this being such an addictive pastime ('should be doing so many other things instead at the moment), a handful of flowers has suddenly becoming a full-blown flower nursery! Now, I have to start thinking of where to plant them... perhaps on a few cushions or maybe a blanket or two -- I shall keep you posted... 'Hope you are also finding ways of enjoying your month of January!...

I love that! Crochet gardening!!!

Oh, those are just lovely! I can only do granny squares, but I think it's high time I branched out.

I love the idea of crochet gardening - perfect for this time of year! I wonder if you can get yarn that will survive outdoors - you could create a garden full of colour all year round!!

I've been crochet gardening too! Mine are roses and daisies from Melanie Griffiths book. I've just taken photos ready for a blog post later in the week.
January isn't bad at all, quite a bit of frost but lovely sunshine too.

Beata,
I wish we could be neighbors for just an afternoon and you would teach me how to make these lovely flowers...
I can't imagine a prettier garden.

I was wondering if you ever sell the colorful crocheted flower pillows? I have a 1966 Frolic travel trailer that I would just love to have one for. I have no crocheting skills at all. I make jewelry and do some sewing. Your work is absolutely amazing!

I absolutely love your blog. I recently purchased a sewing machine & I can't wait til it gets here so I can begin making incredible & beautiful things like yours! You're such an inspiration! Your pillowcases are beautiful. I love to crochet, but I had never before heard of a sharp crochet hook so you could do trim - what a clever invention! I can't wait to buy one & try trimming my own things. :] Thanks for being amazing, I always look forward to seeing what else you have created.

This is fantastic. I live in the Southwest Desert - so gardening does not happen here during the summer! Love the snowy pictures. I LOVE winter but just do not get to enjoy it here....
Thanks for all of your tips and patterns!
